Workshop organized by Daniel Sharp, Ph.D. (CAS Researcher in Residence/LMU).

Citizenship has an ambivalent status in egalitarian thought. While the ideal of equal citizenship has been central for egalitarian social movements, citizenship also serves as an instrument of social closure and plays a key role in maintaining global inequalities. What should we make of the institution of citizenship in light of this tension? Can the ideal of equal citizenship and inequality be reconciled?

Participants include Rebecca Buxton (Bristol), Speranta Dumitru (Paris), Jelena Dzankic (EUI), Yossi Harpaz (Tel Aviv), Dimitry Kochenov (CEU).

Daniel Sharp ist im Winterrsemester 2024/25 Researcher in Residence am CAS.
