Under the heading Das Bild der Erde ("The Picture of the Earth"), works by the Munich artist Ekkeland Götze will be on display during the winter semester. His print works are made from earth which he dug up on expeditions to all the world's continents in places which have special mythological or historical meaning for the people who live there. In this manner, his works constitute a visual manifestation of the immense significance which certain places and regions possess for certain cultures.

Works from a period of more than 20 years will be on display at the CAS until 30 March 2012, beginning with the project Todesstreifen ("Death Strip") from 1990, for which the artist collected earth from along the former Berlin Wall, and stretching through to works from the last few years, which involved trips to countries including Australia, Crete and Mexico.

A catalogue of the exhibition is available free of charge featuring accompanying texts and pictures.

At the Vernissage on 21 October 2011 Prof. Dr. Christopher Balme (Institut für Theaterwissenschaft, LMU) will give the introduction.
