All artistic production is subjected to a longer artistic tradition and history, and stands – voluntarily or otherwise – on the shoulders of giants. In this exhibition, the artist Melissa MayerGalbraith gives a glimpse into the ways in which she has interacted with various works of art history. Exhibited in particular are works which interact with Dürer, Velásquez and Van Dyck.

Melissa MayerGalbraith studied painting and graphics at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. She teaches at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich.

At the Vernissage on 12 June 2018 PD Dr. Matteo Burioni (Kunstgeschichte, LMU/ZI, München) will give the introduction.
