Workshop organized by Sabine Hoffmann, Ph.D. (LMU).
One of the fundamental roles of science is to serve as a neutral and independent source of information. To address the challenges and crises of the 21st century, scientific evidence needs to be presented in a way that is accessible and understandable and that allows the general public and policymakers to weigh costs, benefits and uncertainties in evidence-based decision-making. However, paradoxically, an open communication of scientific uncertainty can also be used by bad-faith actors to undermine trust in science.
Participants include Gerd Gigerenzer (MPI für Bildungsforschung), Eric-Jan Wagenmakers (University of Amsterdam).
