Connor T. Jerzak is Professor in the Department of Government at the University of Texas at Austin and Consultant at the Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington. He is currently Visiting Fellow at CAS. His talk centers on the uses of Earth Observation (EO) in causal inference for social science. After first providing an introduction to available EO data resources, and reviewing the role of satellite data in missing-data imputation for social science, he introduces different facets of Planetary Causal Inference, wherein EO data are used to improve observational, experimental, and natural experimental social science research.
The lecture is part of the CAS Research Focus “Prevention of Conflict”.
