Till van Rahden is Professor of German and European Studies at the University of Montreal. He is an expert in German-Jewish history. Among his most recent publications are Vielheit. Jüdische Geschichte und die Ambivalenzen des Universalismus (2022) and Demokratie. Eine gefährdete Lebensform (2019). He is currently Visiting Fellow at the LMU-Kolleg-Forschungsgruppe “Universalism and Particularism”. In his lecture, he claims that Europe has been provincialized as voices from the Global South and social movements challenge Western hegemony.
