Antal Rot is Professor of Inflammation Sciences at the Faculty of Medical and Dental Sciences of the Queen Mary University of London.
His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms that govern inflammatory processes, with particular emphasis on the role of chemokines and their classical and atypical receptors. He investigates how these signaling systems regulate immune cell trafficking, coordination, and function in both physiological and pathological contexts. A central aim of his work is to elucidate how dysregulation of chemokine networks contributes to the development and progression of inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases, thereby providing a basis for novel therapeutic strategies.
He was visiting CAS from April to June 2014 following the invitation from Prof. Dr. Christian Weber (LMU). On 20 April 2014, Antal Rot gave a lecture on “Chemokine System, the Cell Esperanto: Crucial Roles of Atypical Chemokine Receptors in Chemokine Grammar.” In September and October 2026, he will again visit CAS at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Markus Sperandio (LMU).
