Clemens Bauer is Associate Research Scientist at the College of Science at Northeastern University.

He is interested in the activation patterns that arise in different neural networks (e.g. the default mode network) through subjective experiences during controlled and sustained periods of attention (e.g. in meditation). Using novel real-time functional magnetic imaging methods, he creates a personalised fingerprint of brain network activity to compare specific mental/brain states (e.g. meditation vs. distraction). This has led to the development of a personalised neuro-template for efficient neurofeedback protocols in psychopathology. His overall goal is to develop and improve neurocognitive therapies (especially meditation therapies) for patients with psychiatric disorders (e.g. schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, dementia).

Clemens Bauer is a Visiting Fellow at CAS LMU from September to November 2025 upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Inga Katharina Koerte (LMU).
