Ulrich Johannes Schneider is a professor at the Institute for Cultural Studies at Leipzig University. He was director of Leipzig University Library from 2006 to 2022; from 1998 to 2005, he was head of the Research Projects and Research Planning Department at the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel.
His most recent publications include Atmen beim Lesen. Bibliotheken im Industriezeitalter, Wien 2024; Andrew Carnegies Bibliotheken. Über Moderne und Öffentlichkeit, München, 2024; Foucault im Hörsaal. Über das mündliche Philosophieren, Wien 2022.
