Max Weber

Edith Hanke is Generalredakteurin of the Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Munich. Leo Tolstoy and his significance for 1900 German cultural debate was the topic of her PhD thesis. Her most prominent editions are: Max Weber’s Sociology of Domination for the Max Weber-Gesamtausgabe (MWG I/22-4 and MWG I/23), a selection of Weber’s letters (2019/20), the Oxford Handbook of Max Weber (2019).

Recently she co-curated the exhibition Bürgerwelt und Sinnenwelt. Max Webers München and co-authored the accompanying book. Her current field of research concerns Max Weber’s worldwide proliferation and the digital edition of his work.
