Gudrun Kadereit is Professor of Systematics, Biodiversity and Evolution of Plants at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. She is also Director of the Botanical Garden Munich-Nymphenburg and Director of the Bavarian State Collection for Botany.

Her research focuses on phylogenetics and evolution of flowering plants. She is particularly interested in the evolution of complex traits such as C4 photosynthesis, Crassulacean Acid Metabolism (CAM) and seed germination. She is also part of the DFG priority program “Taxon-omics” that explores new approaches to discovering and naming biodiversity.
