Kamesh Narasimhan is postdoc in the laboratory of George Church at the Department of Genetics at the Harvard Medical School, Boston.
He studied biochemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras. For his Ph.D. he went to Singapore at the National University of Singapore and Genome Institute of Singapore. After a postdoc at the University of Toronto and Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research he started as a researcher in the laboratory of George Church in 2015.
Kamesh Narasimhan’s research interests include the expanding and reprogramming of the genetic code, the development of novel aptamers (oligonucleotide or peptide molecules that bind to a specific target molecule) to target transcription factors and post-transcriptional RNA binding proteins.
He is a Visiting Fellow in October and November 2018 in the context of the CAS Research Group "Recreating the Origin of Life" following an invitation from Prof. Dr. Dieter Braun.
On 9 October 2018 he will give a lecture on "Genetic incorporation of non-standard amino acids in a recoded E.coli and Gedanken experiments on the emergence of minimal biological components".
