Kirk Wetters is Professor of German at the Yale University.
His research areas are amongst others eighteenth-century literature, German literature around 1800 (Romanticism and Weimar Classicism) and philosophies of history.
His current research project, provisionally titled “The Theory Show,” seeks to historically disentangle the forms and genres of academic publication and communication, so as to produce a clearer conception of the academic and public discourses that came to be known as “critique” and “theory.”
He is a Visiting Fellow at CAS LMU in June and July 2025 and works together with Prof. Dr. Carlos Spoerhase (LMU).
