Michael Pusch is Research Director at the Biophysics Institute of Italy’s National Research Council in Genoa (IBF).
He is an expert in the biophysical analysis of various types of ion channels and transporters and has made a number of important scientific contributions to the field of anion-transporting chloride channel (CLC) proteins. Ion channels are involved in many physiological processes, such as nerve conduction, synaptic transmission or epithelial salt transport. A disturbed function can lead to global developmental delays, various psychiatric disorders, lysosomal storage diseases and neurodegeneration.
He is a Visiting Fellow at CAS LMU in May and June 2025 upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Annette Nicke and Prof. Dr. Christina Grimm (LMU).
On 26 May 2025 he will give a lecture on “Endo- / Lysosomal CLC Transporters: From Biophysics to Human Neurological Diseases”.
