Rachel Green is Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. Her research focuses on the function and regulation of ribosomes at the molecular level and on how changes in ribosome activity lead to mRNA quality control and the induction of cellular stress responses. She investigates both detailed mechanistic questions of ribosome rescue and surveying global changes in gene expression, as well as the complex interplay of signaling pathways in mammalian cells. To address these questions, her laboratory employs a broad range of genetic, genomic, and biochemical approaches in bacteria, yeast, and increasingly in mammalian systems.

Rachel Green is a Visiting Fellow at CAS LMU in July 2026 upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Roland Beckmann (LMU) in the context of the CAS Research Focus “Nucleic Acid Stress.”
