Sanjay Subrahmanyam is Distinguished Professor and Irving and Jean Stone Endowed Chair in Social Sciences at the Department of History of UCLA.
His research focuses on medieval and early modern South Asian and Indian Ocean history, the history of European expansion, the comparative history of early modern empires, and various aspects of world history.
Sanjay Subrahmanyam is a Visiting Fellow in January 2019 in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Models of Change" upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Arndt Brendecke and Prof. Dr. Martin Schulze Wessel.
He will give a lecture on "Mobility and Change in the Indian Ocean World, 1400-1700" in the context of the conference "Shaping Change. Epistemologies, Practices, Politics" on 21 and 22 January 2019.
