Dr. Vasilis Gkolemis

Vasilis Gkolemis is a Research Associate at ATHENA RC and a PhD candidate at Harokopio University of Athens. Holding an MSc in Data Science from the University of Edinburgh, his work sits at the intersection of model interpretability and Bayesian inference. Specifically, he develops explainable-by-design models, creates auditing techniques for black-box systems, and works on demystifying neural estimators used in simulator-based inference. An active software enthusiast, Vasilis frequently contributes to the open-source community, notably through the Effector and ELFI frameworks.

Vasilis Gkolemis is at CAS upon the invitation of Dr. Giuseppe Casalicchio (CAS Researcher in Residence/LMU) during the summer semester 2026.
