Speaker: Prof. Shahar Mendelson, Ph.D.
Chair: Prof. Dr. Holger Rauhut (LMU)
Shahar Mendelson is Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University and currently a Visiting Fellow at CAS. In his lecture, he addresses a central problem in high-dimensional probability and statistics that has been studied for decades: Can the mean of an unknown random vector be accurately estimated based solely on independent samples? Shahar Mendelson presents key ideas that have led to sharp solutions of this problem and to significant advances on related probabilistic and geometric questions.
The lecture is part of the CAS Research Focus “Medical Data Processing”.
