Mathematics

Arturo Pianzola is a professor of mathematics at the University of Alberta.

His research focuses on algebra, with particular emphasis on infinite-dimensional Lie algebras, algebraic groups, and their applications in geometry and mathematical physics. Pianzola’s work explores the structure and classification of extended affine Lie algebras and related algebraic objects, shedding light on their symmetries and representation theory. He has contributed significantly to the understanding of the interplay between algebraic and geometric methods in the study of infinite-dimensional structures. Pianzola has published extensively in leading mathematical journals.

Arturo Pianzola is a member of Prof. Dr. Nikita Geldhauser`s CAS Research Group Algebraic Groups, Motives and Applications. He will be in Munich as a Visiting Fellow in the year 2025/2026.
