Stefan Gille is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.
His research is centered on algebraic geometry, with a particular emphasis on quadratic forms, algebraic K-theory, and the theory of motives. He is interested in the interplay between arithmetic and geometric properties of algebraic varieties, as well as their cohomological invariants. Gille's work contributes to a deeper understanding of the structural foundations of algebraic geometry and its connections to related areas such as algebraic topology and number theory. He has published widely on topics involving Chow groups, motivic cohomology, and the theory of sheaves in algebraic geometry.
Stefan Gille is a member of Prof. Dr. Nikita Geldhauser`s CAS Research Group Algebraic Groups, Motives and Applications. He will be in Munich as a Visiting Fellow in the year 2025/2026.
