Prof. Terry Gannon, Ph.D.

Visiting Fellow, CAS Research Group “Algebraic Groups, Motives and Applications”

University of Alberta

Mathematics

Terry Gannon is a professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at the University of Alberta, Edmonton.

His research lies at the intersection of algebra, number theory, and mathematical physics, with a particular focus on conformal field theory and vertex operator algebras (VOAs). He is especially interested in the arithmetic and categorical structures that arise in these areas, such as modular invariants, fusion rings, extensions of VOAs, and their representation categories He has published extensively in these fields and is the author of the book Moonshine beyond the Monster: The Bridge Connecting Algebra, Modular Forms, and Physics.

Terry Gannon is a member of Prof. Dr. Nikita Geldhauser`s CAS Research Group Algebraic Groups, Motives and Applications. He will be in Munich as a Visiting Fellow in the year 2025/2026.
